Autobiography- "Shoe Dog" by Phil Knight
1) Surprise- Phil Knight started Nike with his former track coach at Oregon
Admire- Took a chance after the army on his crazy idea
Least Admire- Used ignorance as an excuse in the federal investigation.
Adversity/failure- Phil Knight had no meaning in life before making the jump, became self -critical and had to deal with federal investigation.
2) Competencies-
Phil Knight's story is one where he has exhibited resilience, faced pain, defended his company, defended his ideas, and creative in finding inspiration.
3) I was confused on what the company changed or did differently that allowed it to go public.
4) Two Questions for Phil Knight-
What was your original goal/expectations of you trip to Japan?
Do you think you still would have gotten into shoes at some point if not for Bowerman?
5)It sounds corny, but I gather that Phil Knight is of the belief that hard work is nothing without a vision, a belief.
