8A- Solving the Problem

Opportunity-

  • Most people on campus, for whatever reason it may be, find themselves walking between buildings and to or from different points of transportation. This being said, spontaneous rains in Florida can be inconvenient for anyone in these positions and it seems most solutions right now are inconvenient or tedious. Rain Jackets and umbrellas are often soaking wet and hard, leaving them hard to bring indoors or pack away in a bag or backpack. Most people walk from building to building on campus, leaving an opportunity for some sort of a pick-up/drop-off system for a product or service that could keep students from getting soaked in a 20 yard walk.

The Product/Service-
  • My idea of an umbrella rental system would fit to solve almost all parts of the situation presented above. I believe there could be some sort of kiosk or exchange container where kids can use umbrellas that other kids brought to class. I believe with enough participation and locations efficiently placed on campus, we could have a system of umbrellas users during rainy hours of the day.
