Existing Market-
For my existing market, I think I need to come up with a prototype for what one of my points of system and drop off will look like. I also believe I need to come up with a pricing/rental system that is accessible to all.
I am worried this might be dependent on the use of a credit card, but I want students to be able to use my system without one. I also need to discuss with Gator One Central to see if there is any way that my product could become a part of the declining balance/ flex bucks system on campus that way students can swipe heir gator1 ID when picking up or dropping off an umbrella.
The name for system will probably be the "Rent-a-brella" and if I plan on attracting students as customers my business needs to be accessible on social media. I plan on releasing some sort of system of flyers or papers surveys so that I can formally get numbers on the potential amount of students that genuinely are interested in my product.
New Markets-
As an active student at UF with a little brother that goes to school in Gainesville, I immediately thought of public high schools as a potential place where my rent-a-brella system might be of use. I believe that students waste a lot of time in between classes when it is raining, and the high school I attended had dozens of outdoor hallways that became essentially useless when it poured in the afternoons.
I also believe that this system would be very effective in downtown gainesville by Bo Diddley plaza and the concentration of public government building by the intersection of University Ave. and Main St. Pedestrian traffic is prevalent by Bo Diddley plaza and people often find themselves walking anywhere from 50 yards to 4 blocks to get food, attend an event at the hippodrome, etc. With well placed points of pick-up and drop-off, we could lay out places where the most people will walk past our umbrellas.
